THE PETE CANTER QUARTET – Featuring Matt Johns, Keyboards
Pete Canter – saxophones – Matt Johns – keyboards – Marcus Vergette – double bass Gary Evans – drums
Pete Canter is a highly accomplished jazz saxophonist with a beautiful sound on both soprano and tenor saxophones.
His jazz repertoire draws upon hard bop, bebop, Latin jazz, and upon his own well crafted compositions.
Pete played on the 1980s London jazz scene, then in Wales before moving to the Southwest in 2001 where he has established himself on both the local jazz scene and further afield as a fine saxophone player, composer and band leader responsible for a string of creative jazz projects.
He has recorded several well received jazz albums, has played at major U.K. festivals including Cheltenham and Teignmouth and his bands have supported Polar Bear and Kyle Eastwood.
Here Pete teams up with the phenomenally talented Matt Johns on keys, a regular in several of Pete’s bands, excellent double bass player Marcus Vergette and top drummer Gary Evans.
