Bash Street Theatre presents “The Battling Butlers!”

Live music, physical comedy & circus skills combine to tell a story as old as time...

Juggling babies, toddlers on stilts and teaching your kid Joey to ride his first unicycle...

These are all part of everyday life for showman Joe Butler, in this poignant, family love story involving the ever-changing relationship of a father-and-son double act, The Battling Butlers.

What sort of parent actually encourages their five-year-old to play with fire, anyway?!

Using a unique blend of physical theatre, circus skills, original songs and live music, The Battling Butlers is a study in role-reversal and the inevitability of change, as the old order makes way for the new.

    The Countrymen

The Countrymen are a Cornish Folk Rock Harmony Group from Launceston.“If you get the chance to see these guys (The Countrymen) in concert then take it, you will not
    be disappointed”   Harry Glasson

Five seasoned musicians with tight four-part harmony vocals and a token Cornishman. With a relaxed and light-hearted presentation style they take the audience on a journey through the history and culture of Cornwall, featuring their own arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs, as well as original material. Interspersed with the occasional pop cover to lighten the mood when required, there is no mistaking that to a man, they love their county with a passion.

    Listen to them here!

Now in their sixth year, they have been becoming increasingly popular across both Devon & Cornwall with appearances on both radio and TV and numerous festival appearances including The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, The Rock Oyster Festival, Falmouth Week, Bridport Folk Festival and Little Orchard Festival.

2023 will see the band take on a fourth concert tour of both Cornwall and Devon entitled “Bal Maiden” which is the track title to one of the new tracks for a third forthcoming album..

The band was formed from an Open Mic Night at their local, The Countryman Inn near Launceston, which is where the band’s name originates.  They soon found a mutual love of singing in harmony and almost accidentally developed a strong reputation for an emphasis on Cornishness in the repertoire.

In addition to offering quality live entertainment on stage, they have also been busy in the recording studio and have released three online EPs to date, Cornish Lads Vol.1, 2 and not unsurprisingly, Cornish Lads Vol.3.

They have also released two albums, “Trees On The Hill” and more recently, “The River Rolls On”.

The Countrymen - in 3 minutes!

“Fantastic band! Great harmonies and mix of music. Don't miss them!” Guy McKensie

“Saw these guys on Saturday in the main street (Falmouth Shanty Festival). Great singing. Great banter”. Steve Prophet

“Absolutely love this band. Saw them for the first time at the St Agnes Lifeboat celebration in June and was blown away by the musicianship and beautiful harmonies. At times they were very exclusive and original and at other times derivative but still brilliant. They reminded me at times of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and I would love to see them attempt "Teach Your Children"; but their take on some traditional Cornish songs was uplifting and poignant at the same time. A wonderful night's entertainment. I very much look forward to seeing them again (and again). Thanks guys, much appreciated” David Simons

    Tango In The Night

"Tango In The Night" are Back !
And there's an Extra Night too !

Now - starting on Thursday 18th May through to Saturday, 20th May

Esther Baker is mum to 5 children and lives locally. Her daytime job is a community Pastor. Esther brings the authentic sounding vocals of Stevie Nicks. performing the popular well-loved songs that have stood the test of time. She will have you thinking and believing that Stevie Nicks is in the house. When not performing on stage she sings and plays at her local Baptist Church.

Bob Seymour is very well known and respected throughout Cornwall as a stand out solo artiste, but he joins us as our Peter Greenand vocally absolutely nails it! He trades the blues guitar licks superbly with myself and also plays session guitar and backing vocals throughout the show.

Kerry is our new Christine McVie and started in July 2022 with us! She is a very accomplished keyboard player, singer and performer and hits the vocal range of Christine McVie perfectly!
She was a Music Theory teacher and ran Singing Groups for different courses run by Truro and Penwith College, and also became a singing and piano teacher providing one to one lessons on Music and Performing Arts courses.
Having always taught younger Piano and Voice students in her schedule of work at college, she also teaches students ranging in ages from 6 up to secondary school age.  With some of these students continuing lessons for a number of years with her. This has allowed them to work towards Practical Piano and Vocal exams of varying types and boards and pursue professional careers.

Steve Yendell is our John McVie and another original member who works tirelessly to emulate John's bass style and sound, he looks and plays the part so well! Steve has played in many bands in and around London and Sussex, and has been a London studio session player.

Kev Dodd is our Mick Fleetwood and a former decorated Royal Navy aircrew officer. His technical ability, style and feel and just plain enthusiasm for the drums is inspiring! It may well be his military background that provides his obsession with getting things just right, but whatever it is he’s obviously the perfect man for the job!

Kim and Yvette, Our two wonderful backing singers were part of a fabulous vocal harmony quartet and have years of vocal experience. They bring depth and vibrancy to our stage and are gifted singers in their own right.

Kenny Barnes plays the role on stage as Lindsey Buckingham and has the guitar skills and vocals to match. Kenny is an accomplished singer and multi-instrumentalist. He trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and also runs the studio where we all rehearse and record.

Scotty and Adam are invaluable on sound and lighting. They may not be present on stage but they certainly bring the stage to you. They will bring the show to life and keep you captivated by their skills in choreographing a superb show to remember.
