St Austell Players present Bouncers by John Godber, directed by Kim Rowe, and Shakers by John Godber and Jane Thornton, directed by Rose Lancaster.
Godber’s 80s classic Bouncers and the, later added, sister play Shakers (co-written with Jane Thornton) were originally penned to expose the dark underbelly of 80s night-life in Britain.
This production has been revised for a more modern audience, without forgetting its working class, social context.Four Bouncers. Four cocktail waitresses. One Double-Bill of hard-hitting, hilarious physical comedy !
Through outrageous observations, colourful characters, and lively, emotional snapshots, Bouncers and Shakers explores the shadowy underbelly of Britain after dark, as seen through the eyes of four cocktail waitresses and the men on the club door.
Cue giggly girls, pogo-punks, Mr & Mrs Trendy and "lads on the razz" tittering at the thought of a ‘Long Slow Comfortable Screw’ as Bouncers and Shakers offers a fascinating view of the reality behind the pulsating beats of the dance floor and the not-so-glitzy-glamour lurking beyond the plastic palms and Pina Coladas.
Please note performances contain explicit language and adult themes.
Doors Open and Licensed Bar from 7.00pm. The Plays start at 7.30pm

Suzi Ruffell: Snappy
Suzi Ruffell likes things snappy: her stand up, her decisions and her suits.

Her last tour, 'Dance Like Everyone Is Watching', received great critical acclaim and was recorded as an Amazon special. Suzi has also appeared on numerous shows such as Live At The Apollo, The Jonathan Ross Show, QI, The Last Leg, and Womanhood, to name but a few.
Suzi is also known for her hugely popular podcasts 'Like Minded Friends', with fellow comedian Tom Allen and 'Out'.
Her many radio appearances include BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz and The Now Show.“instinctively, exquisitely funny from the moment she sashays onto the stage… a crowd-pleasing show packed with punchlines.” Evening Standard

Troy Hawke : 'Sigmund Troy'd
Troy Hawke is the award-winning comedy character and viral sensation star of the hilarious ‘Greeters Guild’ series of online videos.
The creation of comic genius, Milo McCabe, Troy is a wonder you have to see for yourself: do so, and be transported to a world of old-school hilarity. How to describe Troy Hawke?
Raffish 1930's throwback, homeschooled charmer, unlikely stealer of hearts and minds, adorable cad, unreconstructed bounder, smoking-jacketed mother’s boy, scrabble enthusiast… and yet this only scratches the surface.Last year Troy found the nefarious link between Ikea, the Nazis and Kanye West.
This year, in his show Sigmund Troy'd,/b> he returns to investigate and to battle a new enemy on behalf of all people everywhere…PSYCHOTHERAPY!As Troy would say: “Have at it!”
'A spectacular character...brilliantly sharp, lacing his wit with a touch of the surreal’– Fest
‘Milo McCabe’s creation is quite superb...blisteringly funny, with perfectly worded jokes’– Broadway BabyTroy Hawke: Sigmund Troy’d!
