Singer and saxophonist, Jimmy Cannon explores the repertoire of the ‘Great British Songbook’: the songs associated with British composers and singers from the golden age of songwriting.
The much-loved American Songbook reflects Hollywood’s heyday, from the first "talkies" in the 1920s right up to the demise of the legendary Hollywood orchestras in the late 1960s - but many of these great songs aren't quite as American as you might think!
    Accompanied by:
    Simon Latarche piano,
    James MacPhail double bass &
    Damian Rodd drums
    Songs include:
THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU – RAY NOBLE
    SMILE – CHARLIE CHAPLIN
DON’T LAUGH AT ME – NORMAN WISDOM
LULLABY OF BIRDLAND – GEORGE SHEARING
LONDON BY NIGHT - CARROL COATES
    and many others!
Jimmy is a singer and saxophonist who has toured and performed with Sir Tom Jones, The Commitments, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Rodriguez, Maroon Town, Roger Taylor, and Mbawula, as well as appearing on BBC TV's The One Show, ITV's This Morning & with his own swing band The Jazz Cannons.
As a singer, Jimmy has two albums to his credit: "Alltogether" on Proper Music and "All Upon a Lovely Summer's Day" on the F-IRE label.
