Miracle Theatre Company present
"Dr Livingstone, I Presume"
Cornwall's much loved theatre company presents its own version of a memorable slice of history, in a performance influenced by Victorian Music Hall, including caustic comedy, second rate spectacle, dubious magic, dodgyventriloquism and breath-taking burlesque, the show will genuinely appeal to all ages.
The epic story of one man’s obsession to discover the source of the Nile and transform an entire continent single-handed - and of a woman left behind…

Coffins, crucifixes, crypts and the Count!
It's all here in this new adaptation of Bram Stoker's gothic pot-boiler!

Abigail's Party
By Mike Leigh
Mike Leigh's Iconic play is set in the 1977. There were only two television channels and ITV staff were on strike. Everyone watched the West End sell out play "Abigail's Party" on the BBC with Alison Steadman in the lead, it set the nation alight.
The Queen's Silver Jubilee is being celebrated throughout the nation and Commonwealth. Red Rum has won the Grand National for the third time. Everyone is humming "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees from the smash hit movie "Saturday Night Fever" which is playing day and night on the pirate radio station Radio Caroline.
Suburbanites Laurence and Beverly are entertaining their new neighbours Angela and Tony to drinks and snacks. Also invited is Susan, whose teenage daughter, Abigail, is giving a party at which her mother would be less than welcome.
At first, good will and fatuous small talk abound; but the sense of growing marital strain between Beverly and Laurence, Susan's growing anxiety as to what is happening at her daughter's party (increasingly evident through the sound of rock music penetrating the room!), and the supreme tactlessness of various remarks by Beverly and Angela generate a rising tension.
This smug suburban world is finally shattered when horrific reality breaks through the comfortable facade and what promises to be a pleasant evening turns out to be a drinks party from hell!
This timeless black comedy of manners will leave you squirming, cringing and roaring with laughter as you return, for most of you, to a happy suburban home...??

This is a curious musical place where certain elements of 1930’s Berlin Cabaret, Hot Club de France, Nuevo Tango & Gypsy Campfire meet, have a few to drink and stagger arm in arm into the darkness of some eastern European cobbled street on a mission to find the bar where Django Reinhardt & Tom Waits are having an afterhours jam with the local Tziganes. Combining their original material with songs by the likes of Jaques Brel, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits & Bertolt Brecht, Moscow Drug Club provide an intoxicating & intimate musical experience.
You are cordially invited to share a wry smile with us as you enter the darkly comic world of Moscow Drug Club…..this way please & mind the stairs!
Have a look and a listen to them by clicking here.
(NB This event was to have taken place at the Old Press Gallery in St Austell. Please note that it's now taking place at St Austell Arts Theatre, on the A390, on the south-western edge of St Austell)

Anna Maria Murphy & Bagas Degol
Salt Road is peppered with tales of whimsy and wisdom,
to entrance both young and old alike.Kneehigh Theatre’s Anna Murphy and Celtic folk band Bagas Degol present a captivating evening of original stories and music, about the sea and how it shapes us; those who leave, stay behind and come back.
They tell the story of “Cod” Jolliff, a fisherman, who finds a mysterious diary written by his great-great-great Grandfather, Ebenezer Jolliff, who had left Cornwall, with his two brothers, to preach in Tierra Del Fuego.
“Cod” decides to undertake an epic journey, to discover the secrets hidden in the diary’s pages. In doing so, tales are revealed as he travels around our coasts: the Salt Roads.
Travel along with “Cod” and find out who kissed like a limpet and discover exactly what did Caleb Jolliff see in an iceberg?!
Writer and storyteller, Anna Murphy has had her work performed by Kneehigh Theatre, Rogue Theatre, C-Scape Dance and BBC Radio 4.
