A powerful new play touring the South West and part of the Swindon Fringe Festival.
Siobhan Locke has a problem…apart from having cancer, that is.
She doesn’t want her husband, Eddie, to be alone when her time finally comes. So she goes looking for a new partner for him in the Lonely Hearts adverts in the local paper.
Eddie, too, has a problem. As much as he adores his wife, since the diagnosis, he cannot find it in himself to get close to her. He would do anything for her, but there seems to be no way to resolve it.
Then, after an embarrassing argument with Kelly, Siobhan’s old nurse, Holly Fenton arrives on the scene. A new nurse, a new start; unfortunately, in the dim and distant past, Eddie had been at school with Holly, which begins to put a brake on Siobhan’s plans and sparks something she had never thought feel again: jealousy.
Then, of course, there’s The Man. Siobhan’s constant companion. Is he just in her imagination, a drug-induced fantasy…or something more sinister? After all, only Siobhan can see him and he seems to have only her best interests at heart.
‘Dominion’ traces the delicate and ultimately, tender journey made by two people who thought that their love was all they would ever need…and, in the end, discover that possibly, just possibly, they were right all along.

Although it was never easy.

Johnny’s popularity continues to grow, due to his regular show on Cornwall’s Pirate FM.
Often cheeky, but never offensive, Johnny’s stories leave audiences helpless with laughter. In between his hilarious anecdotes, Johnny gives his audiences a chance to catch their breath by showing his comedy talents are equally matched by his vocal ability.
His clear Cornish voice makes every song easy on the ear and has a choice of songs to please one and all – although, often his most requested are the Gospel songs of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Mike Hatchard : Cycling 'LEJOG' - with a Piano ! (raising money for Children in Need).
A wonderful evening of music & humour
“… like Victor Borge – on acid!” The ScotsmanVirtuoso pianist, singer/songwriter and raconteur, Mike Hatchard is cycling, with an electric piano in tow, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, to raise money for the BBC’s Children in Need charity.
Starting his journey at the open-air Minack Theatre, Mike will make his way along the South Coast, before heading North to Scotland via the Edinburgh Festival (1,400 miles in all! )
Mike Hatchard has had an extraordinarily diverse career as a musician. He began as the pianist for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and toured America as Cleo Laine’s accompanist as a member of the John Dankworth Quintet and became Matt Monro’s youngest ever musical director.
However, a penchant for cartooning and comedy made his career take some unexpected turns. He invented a character ‘Marvin Hanglider’, and for many years performed at the Edinburgh Festival, described in The Scotsman as a ‘fringe staple.’
He toured as musical director for comedienne Pamela Stephenson, and co-wrote songs with Frankie Howerd and Spike Milligan. For many years he was closely associated with Herbie Flowers (of Sky fame) which included all sorts of work in prisons, in schools and at the Southbank (Mike has also performed his one man show twice at the Purcell Rooms) and in disabled centres.
He has also worked with David Essex, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Barbara Thompson’s Paraphernalia, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Julia Migenes Johnson, Liane Carroll, Alan Barnes, George Martin and Tina May.
Recently his career went full circle when he was asked to compere Cleo Laine’s eighty-fifth birthday concert at Wavendon, and also appeared alongside Cleo in the celebrated Christmas Shows to packed audiences.
With over forty concerts along the way, in every type of venue imaginable, this really is a labour of love.

Matthew is obviously keen for a reconcilliation with his father, but Henry is quite happy the way things are and sparks soon fly...

Incidental music by Tom GardnerUnspoken Speaking is a powerful piece of drama set in the current day.
While it deals with the way that people often say one thing but mean another, or show thoughts and emotions without speaking at all, the work explores a much deeper level of the unspoken word – from how things are not said aloud but through the social media screen to how the fear of what ‘other people might say’ can drive people’s actions.
Unspoken Speaking is a play set against a series of haunting and emotive songs performed by a mixed-voice choir, which are sung as the action of the play takes place in front of them, each having a terrific impact on the effect of the other.
The songs have been professionally orchestrated by internationally renowned composer and arranger Aaron Latina.
The plot follows the lives of friends, Rhys and James (who have grown up together since infancy sharing everything “from bath-time to chicken-pox”), exploring the complexities of confusions and identities as they grow up and the fine line between what makes people united friends and, as in this case, hostile strangers.
However, as the play unfolds, the turmoil of the relationship between Rhys and his very controlling mother also emerges as she is tormented, driven and totally influenced by the strength and force of a character who appears on stage with her, but who remains totally silent throughout and is in effect not actually there…….
An energetic, supporting cast provide the backdrop for the principal characters in a series of situations that provide some very moving, some very comical and some very touching, thought-provoking moments – but it is up to the audience to leave the theatre ultimately to decide what was the main story-line and “what happens next” following a very last minute twist.

An eve of Halloween treat for those who like their horror with a hint of the Gothic!
Dead of Night may have been made over 70 years ago, but it is still one of the scariest movies ever made.
Dead of Night receives a rare public, pre-Halloween, screening at the St Austell Arts Centre on the afternoon of Sunday 30th October.Do not attend alone if you are of a nervous disposition!
The film does not have the predictable blood and gore, zombies or unbelievable “ghostie-whosties”; instead, it relies on creating genuine fear caused by psychological mindgames and the dread of the unknown.
Rated as high as 96% on the Rotten Tomatoes website, Dead of Night is a chilling anthology of horror stories that play on all of our innermost fears.
A man is summoned to a house with a group of strangers he has never met before, but has seen in his dreams. As they convene, he predicts certain events will happen as they do in his dreams and when they do, the other guests relate their own experiences with the supernatural, including tales of a possessed mirror, a sinister ventriloquist's dummy and an eerie premonition of death.
Throughout the group meeting, the man fears something horrible will happen to him.
The film's final, revelatory sequence offers an unexpectedly horrific surprise.
The black and white cinematography, atmospheric music and the quintessentially “Englishness” of the 1940s middle classes all add to the tension, suspense and period of the piece that produces genuinely terrifying moments, creating an unforgettable experience, with images that are guaranteed to remain with whoever sees the film for the rest of their lives.
Each separate story has a different Director but are linked by a common thread that makes the film one of the finest and most imaginatively crafted horror films ever made, influencing many more contemporary films in the genre.
The spine-tingling stories involve a hearse driver, Christmas party and a haunted mirror. A more light-hearted section based on an H G Wells story helps to balance the films more menacing moments.
However, the film’s most terrifying and memorable story is kept until last.
It tells the genuinely scary tale of a ventriloquist whose dummy comes to terrifying life and was the inspiration behind the 1978 Anthony Hopkins film “Magic”.

Jeremy Hardy became a stand-up comedian in January 1984. His BBC Radio 4 work includes Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation, The News Quiz, I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and You’ll Have Had Your Tea.He has also done various bits of television, most notably, Now Something Else with Rory Bremner, Saturday Live, Blackadder Goes Forth, Loose Talk, Jack and Jeremy’s Real Lives with Jack Dee and If I Ruled the World with Graeme Garden and Clive Anderson.
He’s been in three films: Mike Figgis’s Hotel with Burt Reynolds, Oliver Irving’s How to Be with Robert Pattinson and Leila Sansour’s documentary, Jeremy Hardy v the Israeli Army, which involved a degree of personal risk.
He has written columns for The Guardian and Red Pepper and has written three books : When Did You Last See Your Father, a spoof childcare guide; Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation, based on the radio series; and My Family and Other Strangers, an examination of his lacklustre ancestry, published last year.
More importantly, he is still a stand-up comic, performing his one-man show in theatres and arts centres throughout Britain and Ireland. He is also part of the live touring version of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
A kind soul in The Guardian wrote of him, “In an ideal world, Jeremy Hardy would be extremely famous, but an ideal world would leave him without most of his best material.”
