DEAN FRIEDMAN IN CONCERT

The fantastic American singer-songwriter

Hailed by critics and fans alike as a one of the finest songwriters of his generation, Dean Friedman has achieved legendary, pop-icon status for chart-topping hits, Ariel, Lucky Stars, Lydia, McDonald’s Girl and more.

Following Friedman’s sold-out, 40th Anniversary Tour, Friedman returns to the stage armed with a stunning collection of his insightful and compelling, true-to-life ‘story songs’ – songs of pathos and humor that deal with family, friends, neighbours, work and the seemingly trivial, yet ultimately essential stuff of everyday life.

His songs with their catchy tunes and clever, witty lyrics are, in turns, intelligent, perceptive. humorous and poignant. He is recognised, by critics and fans alike, as one of the finest songwriters of his generation.

“The Soundtrack of our lives!”– NYTimes

“Songsmith extraordinaire!”– MusicWeek

Dean Friedman is entirely unique and utterly brilliant”– ThreeWeeks

In addition to his familiar radio hits, album releases and touring, Friedman composes and produces music soundtracks for TV and film, including the music to the hit Central TV series BOON, NBC’s Eerie Indiana, Nickelodeon’s Nick Arcade and the indie horror classic, ‘I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle’.

Dean has also published a respected tome on the art and craft of songwriting titled, ‘The Songwriter’s Handbook’, based on songwriting workshops and songwriting masterclasses. He’s conducted at universities and music conservatories around the world, including L.I.P.A. (the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts).

A consummate entertainer, Friedman will be performing solo, on guitar and keyboard, featuring songs from throughout his four-decade career, including familiar, radio hits and fan favourites, drawn from his eight studio albums.

Invite family and friends and join Dean for an evening of powerful, poignant and hilarious songs about the ordinary and extraordinary lives we share, performed by this gifted and likeable singer-songwriter.

THE SNAKE DAVIS BAND

FRIDAY, 12th APRIL, 2024 – 7.30pm

The Snake Davis Band

A class act, making its only appearance in Cornwall!

from soul through pop to jazz and world music, original material and classic sax pieces such as Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Baker Street’ and Paul Simon’s ‘Still Crazy After All These Years’.

Snake Davis by Steve Clark

A Million Love Songs Later, Snake Davis and his band return to the St Austell Arts Centre for an evening of quality music, played by some of the best musicians in the business.

Famous for writing and playing the instantly recognisable saxophone intro on Take That’s “A Million Love Songs”, Snake Davis is one of the most in-demand rock soul and jazz sax players in the world, widely known for his solos on tracks such as Lisa Stansfield’s “Change”, M-Peoples “Search For A Hero” and “Moving On Up”.

He has played and recorded with artists ranging from James Brown to Tina Turner to Paul McCartney, The Eurythmics to Amy Winehouse. Snake played on the last Eurythmics world tour, and tours Japan often with their rock hero Eikichi Yazawa.

His greatest love however is to play intimate venues as himself, his own music choice with his favourite musicians. Playing the saxophone family as well as flutes, whistles and the ancient Japanese wind instrument, the Shakuhachi, and singing, it is his total passion and commitment to every note that draws people in.

The Snake Davis Band has something for everybody, from floaty to dance-able, from soul through pop to jazz and world music, original material and classic sax pieces such as Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Baker Street’ and Paul Simon’s ‘Still Crazy After All These Years’.

The tight 4-piece band has Snake on saxes, vocals and woodwinds and is completed by keyboards, Bass guitar and Drums

Expect infectious grooves and passionate melodies. The Snake Davis Band plays a mix of original material, their own interpretations of some timeless soul jazz and pop pieces and selections from the ‘Classic Sax Solos’ repertoire.

MIKE WOZNIAK: ZUSA

WEDS 21st & THURS 22nd FEBRUARY, 2024 – 7.30pm

Little Wander in association with PBJ Management present…

Mike Wozniak: Zusa

Ever wondered how Mike’s Great-Aunt Zusa made it from Poland to Luton with a war nipping at her heels?

Here’s your chance to find out!

As seen on Man Down (Channel 4) and Would I Lie To You? (BBC One). As heard on Small Scenes (BBC Radio 4), the St Elwick’s Neighbourhood Association Newsletter podcast and the Three Bean Salad podcast.

In 2021, Mike charmed the nation with his appearance on the 11th series of Taskmaster on Channel 4. He then went on to guest on Sky’s revamp of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and was the weekly winner on Richard Osman’s House of Games.

…inspired brilliance… at its best Zusa resembles an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? crossed with Spike Milligan’s military memoirs… deliciously distinctive fun.”   The Standard

‘Owdyado Theatre’s TWISTED CHRISTMAS!

(8 NEW TALES FOR 2023!)

Nasty but nicely comic entertainment…

“In ‘Owdyado’s twisted world nothing is ever what it seems.”

Lyn Gardner
